Inspired by the vibrant Australian brunch culture, The Early Bird was hatched in 2019 by us, the Stander Family, with the vision to create a hub where people of all ages can enjoy something we all love… brunch.
After all, great food brings people together.

At The Early Bird, we serve all-day bright, wholesome, healthy, filling brekkies that we all love to eat. Our food is fresh and simple with influences from Sydney and Melbourne café culture. Whether it’s smashed avo or a stack of pancakes, we aim to bring some sunshine to your plate!
We believe a good strong coffee comes hand in hand with brunch & we are the only cafe in the South West to serve speciality coffee by our favourite award-winning independent roastery, Assembly.
With Rob & Debbie’s span of over 30 years experience in the hospitality trade paired with fresh ideas and creativity from their children, The Early Bird is very much a family affair. All four of their children have been heavily involved from the beginning from running our social media and logistics to baking and front of house.
The Early Bird has taken on a life of its own from the theatre of the open plan kitchen to the laughter and personalities our customers bring. You can only appreciate the vibe once you’ve been!
OUR ARTISAN BAKERY
Located underneath The Early Bird is the Artisan bakery. We are passionate about producing ‘real bread’ to enhance our meals & for our customers to take home. We make our dishes come to life using our own bread with real quality ingredients as well as our popular brownies, yeast-risen doughnuts, cinnamon buns & pastries.
The bakers use traditional methods and simple, honest ingredients without the use of any so-called ‘processing aids’ or artificial additives to create ‘real’ hand-shaped bread. Our bakers are passionate about making good quality, honest bread that looks and tastes delicious!
Our sourdough and loaves contain just a few main ingredients: organic Shipton Mill flour, water, salt & organic yeast (in yeasted loaves).
For the cafe, we like to get creative with unique loaves and bakes which complement the dishes our customers will feast on at the brunch table.

We make 3 types of daily loaves: White Sourdough, Malted Honey & Sunflower and White Country.
Don’t fancy a loaf? You’ll always find brioche buns & soft white country rolls on our shelves.
Soft, gooey & full of flavour. Everyone loves our signature Cinnamon Buns at The EB. The toppings are endless, but our staples are vanilla iced, white chocolate, salted caramel & pecan.
Small-batch yeast risen doughnuts rolled, cooked & decorated every morning. Light, fluffy, stuffed, topped & colourful. With flavours changing daily, we aspire to make the tastiest doughnuts you’ll ever have.
A proper sausage roll. Flaky pastry, plenty of meat & packed with flavour. You can’t leave The Early Bird without one.
We have two daily sausage roll flavours: Pork, Apple & Caramelised Onion and Pork & Caramelised Onion. Vegetarian or Vegan? Try our Roasted Vegetable Roll.
We are constantly trying to impress you with our extensive array of delights. From brownies & blondies to cookie nests, brookies & blookies, there are over 25 different flavours displayed on our counter daily. Guaranteed the gooiest, fudgiest & delicious bakes in the city.
